Service & Installation Engineer – Ronkonkoma, NY

Located near Frankfurt/Germany, Elementar is the world’s leading manufacturer of analytical instruments for the analysis of key elements such as carbon, sulfur, nitrogen, oxygen or hydrogen found in a wide variety of chemical substances, pharmaceutical products, environmental samples, agricultural, food and feed products, petro-chemistry, in education, research or industrial quality control.

With the intention of further supporting our installed base throughout North America, we are recruiting for a Service & Installation Engineer — located in the Westcoast -> California / Bay area.

What you can look forward to accomplishing
The Service & Installation Engineer will be responsible for a variety of service related functions including, but not limited to, the repair, maintenance, and installation of Elementar products. Additional responsibilities include the training of customers and Elementar company engineers, continued support of those customers through phone and email contact and at times, product demonstrations for prospective clients. The Service & Installation Engineer will report directly to the National Service Manager.


Roles and responsibilities

     

  • On-site installation, validation, repair, and maintenance of Elementar products—including Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers (IRMS), combustion analyzers, induction analyzers and peripherals
  • Providing technical training to customers, technical support personnel and service engineers
  • Accurate documentation and reporting of all repairs and product failures and, when applicable, providing design change and improvement recommendations
  • The maintenance and control of the engineer's spare part inventory in accordance with the administrative policies
  • Providing customers and other personnel within assigned region necessary support and documentation required to effect instrument repairs, maintenance, and installations
  • Travel as required to provide service support to customers and other company personnel
  • Ensure timely submission of all necessary reports and other required paperwork
  • Promote sales of Service Contracts and Warranty Extensions
  • Intensive training and certification program requires periodic travel to the manufacturing facilities in Manchester, UK and Langenselbold, Germany.
     

Skills and experience that you need to bring to our company

     

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry or similar scientific field is required, graduate degrees preferred
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation, with an applied knowledge of Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers (IRMS) and combustion analyzers
  • Effectively communicate with customers and support staff in person, via phone or email
  • Ability to produce clear and concise maintenance documentation
  • Travel approximately 75% with valid driver’s license and passport
  • Experienced working with a CRM system and the MS Office Applications
  • Ability to work from home office to provide remote technical support
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

With the intention of delivering optimum customer experience through the operational life of our analytical instruments, we have created a new, strategic role within the growing organization. The Sales Manager will be based out of our Ronkonkoma, NY office and with responsibilities including sales process implementation, coaching, mentoring and establishment of a goal-oriented culture.


The Sales Manager will report directly to the President & CEO while working hand-in-hand with global Sales & Product Management teams.


What you can look forward to accomplishing
Elementar is looking for a dynamic, accomplished Sales Manager to aggressively grow the broad range of Combustion and IRMS products throughout the Americas. The ideal Sales Manager will oversee a team of 5 to 7 Regional Sales Representatives and a defined list of channel partners throughout the territory.


Roles and responsibilities·

  • Manage and lead a team of highly technical sales professionals, establish regional sales forecasts, budgets, and key performance metrics.
  • Define and formalize geographical sales regions, territories, and account-specific activities.
  • Ensure adoption and implementation of the CRM and its efficiency functions into the day-to-day sales process.
  • Deliver training, sales effectiveness techniques and mentoring for the sales professionals routinely and as required to achieve objectives.
  • Coordinate key account-based activities with service organization and marketing to deliver customer satisfaction, account penetration, and overall brand recognition.
  • Successfully oversee new product and technology introductions with key users, adopters and at target accounts.
  • Domestic and international travel required (25% overnight).
  • Based on Long Island, New York.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university with a concentration in Chemistry, Material Science or one of the physical science fields. An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) preferred.
  • Minimum 2-4 years related experience managing a sales team—including a mixture of direct, distribution and inside sales channels.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with customers, field personnel and international colleagues.
  • Effective relationship building, negotiating and reasoning skills; self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Experienced working with a CRM system and the MS Office Applications.

What you can look forward to accomplishing
The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for the movement of goods (materials, components, instruments, etc.) to supply department needs. Also, responsible for adhering to the Standard Operating procedures (SOPs) and/or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that are in effect assuring the quality and quantity of products.  We are looking for a motivated, team player who is reliable, possess a strong work ethic, and is a self-starter. Must also be able to work safely and accurately with a sense of urgency. Oversees the shipping/receiving process from start to finish. 

Roles and responsibilities

  • Quickly and accurately receive, process and store incoming product shipments.
  • Ensures shipments are inspected and damages or shortages are noted on trucking company delivery document. Initiates freight claim procedure when necessary. Promptly reports any discrepancies to manager.
  • Verifies vendor part number and determines proper bin number and/or location of incoming products.
  • Knowledge or “know-how” to work with an ERP system to carry out various daily tasks.
  • Prepares, packs, and scans (as appropriate), and stages products for delivery in accordance with established standards (e.g. hazardous materials). Ensures that packaging is sufficient to avoid damage.
  • Assist with loading of delivery vehicles when needed.
  • Processes documentation necessary to ship customer orders (domestic and international), including commercial/proforma invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, small parcel manifests and other necessary documents.
  • Performs periodic cycle counting on assigned items in order to keep accurate records of inventory. Verifies actual counts of stock against computerized records. Investigates and reports discrepancies to manager.
  • Act as a strong liaison between intercompany departments (corporate headquarters and its subsidiaries) and our local customers.


Skills and experience that you need to bring to our company

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum 3 years related experience preferably including a mixture of warehousing, operation and customer service.
  • Basic written and oral communication skills with customers, field personnel and international colleagues.
  • Ability to prioritize a variety of tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Outgoing personality with strong communication skills
  • Effective relationship building, negotiating and reasoning skills; self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Experienced with working with a forklift and other industrial warehouse equipment.
  • Flexible work schedule and ability to work overtime as needed (some weekends).
  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability t work standing for 5-8 hours of the day
    • Ability to lift overhead, horizontal pull/push, reach above shoulder level, climb steps/ladder, kneel/squat and bend over/stoop on a recurring basis

  • Frequent lift/carry packages and products of varying sizes (max 50 lbs).
